Hang in there!

I’m sleep deprived and stressed out, subsisting on french fries and Starbucks fumes. That can only mean one thing – it’s finals week. Usually finals are a sprint, but this year they’ve been a marathon with ten assignments due over the course of three and a half weeks. And you can tell I’m delirious because now I’m using sports metaphors. I’m about halfway through at this point, just trying to hang in there. Bear with me, and good luck to anyone else in the same boat!

Organizing Bliss

Well, Target did it again.

I think they excel in providing things you didn’t know you needed but now can’t live without.

Last week I was there on a perfectly innocent shopping trip when I came across these cosmetic counter organizers. I’ve admired the style of clear acrylic trays for a while but never seen any I liked within my price range. I’ll admit these were a bit of a splurge. When I got home and arranged everything in them, I knew they were totally worth it.

Before & After

These are pretty and functional. The part of my brain that loves organizing did a little flip when I finished. I love being able to keep all of my polishes and makeup together and easily accessible. I think they are a great storage solution and would highly recommend them.

I bought both of these at my local Target. I’m having trouble tracking them down on their website, so it might be easier just to check in stores. They are by the brand Caboodles. It also looks like they are avaible at Ulta, although they’re more expensive there.

Something You Thought You’d Lost

This story, like all good stories, starts with sushi…

sushi

One of my rare treats is my favorite sushi roll from a local Japanese restaurant. It has salmon, cream cheese, avocado. Oh, and did I mention it’s deep fried? As you can tell, it’s completely unhealthy, which is why I save it for special occasions.

Well, it had been a few months since I’d had it, so I decided to drop in on my way home. But when I got there, it was closed. The horror! I looked up their website. Gone. I couldn’t believe it. Never again would I eat their terrible, wonderful food. And it got me thinking.

The last time I was eating that sushi, I had no idea it would be the last time. Did I savor it? Did I really enjoy it? Probably not the same way I would have if I had known.

I think life is similar. When will something be the last time? Sometimes you don’t know. It makes me want to take the time to enjoy everything. Every place, every person, every moment. Because it might be the last time.

The happy ending to this story is that it was not the last time, after all. I passed by the restaurant the other day and saw the open sign on. It turns out they’ve changed the hours. I was able to go and have my sushi again. Did I slow down and enjoy it this time? You betcha.
