Summer Wardrobe Revamp

If I’m being perfectly honest, summer is my least favorite season. Sure, who doesn’t love graduations and weddings, family vacations and popsicles? Maybe I would feel differently if I didn’t in a place where the temperature reaches a hundred degrees in July.

My favorite outfit is a sweater, jeans, and boots. I struggle finding comfortable clothes in the summer months. On top of that, I went through a major purge when I moved out of my apartment. After six years of college, some of those t-shirts aren’t holding up like they were on the first day of freshman year. Not to mention my taste has changed a lot over the years. I need clothes suitable for going to a job, not rolling out of bed and walking to class.

While I love the styles at places like J. Crew, Anthropologie, Madewell, and Ann Taylor, I can’t afford to do all my shopping there. I wasn’t sure what to do until I looked online at Target. They have tons of great clothes right now. These are a few items I think are worth checking out.

First is the Short Sleeve Crew Neck Tee Shirt by Mossimo. I love them; they are my go to basic tee. I probably buy a few different colors every year. This time I picked one up in Apple Red and Hematite (dark grey). I also have one in basic colors like black, white, and navy. It’s very versatile. I typically wear it with jeans, but it also can be dressed up with a skirt or cardigan.

Next are some striped tops. I’m currently obsessed with black and white striped shirts. I think they are simple and classic. I found the Boatneck Tee and Leisure Structured Tunic Top, both by Merona. I feel more comfortable in longer sleeves, so the ¾ length is perfect for me. Can’t wait to wear these with a pretty necklace or bracelet.

Two basic items I snatched up were the Merona Clip Spot Favorite Shirt and Mossimo Pleated Skirt. I had been look for a plain white button up and black skirt. These were much more affordable options that what I had seen elsewhere.

Finally, I picked up two pairs of shoes while I was there. One was a basic pair of Flip Flops I could wear to the pool without worrying about. The other is a comfy pair of black Ballet Flats. Not only are there cute, but they don’t make my feet hurt, as well. These offer the perfect combination of style and practicality.

The best part is that together, all of this came out to roughly $125 before tax. That’s about the same price as two shirts or a dress from Anthropologie. I predict I will get a lot of wear out of every item. I highly suggest you take a look, as there are so many great items available right now.

Stay cool, and have a great summer. Cheers!
